I learnt something new today... the phrase "action speaks louder than words" was addressed in church today... do actions really speak louder than words? not so it seems... cos its the words that give the action its meaning, for it explains the motivations, intentions, the why, the what of that which is being done... without which, actions on it its own can be left to a thousand interpretations, and no one for sure can know the true motivation behind it... however if we flip it around, words without actions are meaningless too isnt it? words alone are cheap... we all know that... people can say something and do something completely contradictory the next day... hence words and actions must go hand in hand, and not contradict one another... then will it carry its weight and cause people to sit up and take these words seriously... sometimes i think that by living out a life that pleases God, people will see and understand somehow my motivations... but now i see that it is also important and essential that i explain and tell others why i choose to follow Christ, and live my life in accordance to his word, in so doing, they will understand the person of Christ and it is through this discovery that they will one day come to acknowledge Him as Lord and Saviour... Walk the Talk, and Talk the Walk my friends... let us not do one without the other ;)
Words and actions may not always be in harmony. We experience disappointment when this happens. Hurt. Pain. And frustration.
But consider that the perception of a contradiction may be the result of words that remain unspoken, actions that are unseen and matters which if only you knew the full picture... you would understand in a heartbeat.
"Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now we know in part; then we shall know fully, even as we are fully known."
